Accreditation Directorate membership in European co-operation for Accreditation

Kosovo Accreditation Directorate (DAK) is the sole national accreditation body, established by law to assess in compliance with international standards the technical competence of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CAB) performing activities such as: testing, calibrate, certification and inspection whether it is private or public sector, voluntary or mandatory field.

Kosovo Accreditation Directorate functions under the Law No. 03/L- 069 of enacting accreditation on 13 December 2008 also under the amended Law No.04/L 007.

DAK has so far accredited 19 Conformity Assessment Bodies of which 18 are laboratory of which 18 are testing laboratories and one is Inspection Body. In the accreditation procedure are also five more testing laboratories, one inspection body and one certification body.

DAK has so far organized over 43 training on standards ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17011, ISO/IEC 19011, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021, ISO/IEC 17024, ISO/IEC 14001, ISO/IEC 17025 etc .With over 700 participants as of Conformity Assessment Bodies and the Quality of Infrastructure. The certificates of attendance at training were delivered after each training. DAK has more than 36 experts in different fields, 8 assessors and 5 lead assessors who are engaged in the accreditation procedures. Also cooperates with all National Accreditation Authorities in the region in exchange of lead assessor, assessors and experts in accreditation procedures.

DAK Regional and international cooperation is excellent, maintains good relations with all countries of the region and signs Memorandums of Understanding MoU, with Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia, Albanian Directorate of Accreditation, Turkish Accreditation Agency TURKAK, Croatian Accreditation Agency and soon MoU with the Accreditation Body of Montenegro will also be signed. One of the achievements of DAK is the membership in the EA (European co-operation for Accreditation) as a member of the Contract of Cooperation on 26.11.2009 in Brugge, Belgium.

Kosovo Accreditation Directorate has applied to the EA Multilateral Agreement for Laboratory Testing, and pre-evaluation of the DAK by the EAs assessors has taken place on 17, 18 and 19 May 2011. Following the resolution of non-conformities found, DAK will be evaluated once again by EA assessors and then the Multilateral Agreement (MLA) with EA will be signed. Thereupon the certificates of CABs accredited by DAK will be recognized by all states that have signed Multilateral Agreements (MLA) with EA.

In the CEFTA-s assessment report for technical barriers to trade, head of project IPA 2011 David Norris on 3 November 2011 in Budapest, Hungary, in his assessment for Kosovo he gave the highest rate for accreditation field.

On 23 and 24 November 2011 in Warsaw, Poland took place the 28 General Assembly of European Cooperation Accreditation EA where Kosovo Accreditation Directorate (DAK) formally signed the contract for Associate Member with EA.

The President of the European Co-operation for Accreditation Mr. Graham Talbot signed the contract on behalf of EA, while on behalf of Kosovo Accreditation Directorate (DAK) the contract was signed by director of DAK Mr. Ibush Luzha. �Congratulations came from all countries without exceptions.
