Kosovo Accreditation Directorate held a meeting on 08.08.2012 with the Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) representatives, where present at the meeting were representatives of accredited and authorized laboratories, representatives of the inspection body and laboratories that are in assessment procedure for accreditation. This meeting was organized with the aim that CAB's representatives which are authorized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, to be announced that the Ministry of Trade and Industry, according to the Administrative Instruction No. 07/2012 on the quality of liquid petroleum fuels, has made accreditation mandatory for this field of activity.
Director of Accreditation Directorate Mr. Ibush Luzha, at the beginning of the meeting explained that accreditation is voluntary and based on the principles of impartiality, transparency, professional competence, confidentiality, compliance with the accreditation rules and procedures in Europe and at international level. For the activities where the human health and life is threatened, relevant ministries through the legislation in force, make accreditation mandatory. He also added that UA No. 07/2012, article 18, paragraph 5 states: The conformity assessment bodies should be accredited to the required fields, according to standard SK ISO / IEC 17025 or SK ISO / IEC 17020, or should be� accredited until December 31, 2012.
As a conclusion from this meeting was that CABs which are authorized by the MTI to control the quality of petroleum liquid fuels, if they won't be accredited until 31.12.2012, the authorization will be withdrawn.
At this meeting also were discussed other issues concerning accreditation and other activities regarding the drafting of primary and secondary legislation. Also members of CAB-s were asked that during the drafting of legislation, consistently to be part of the process. By representatives of MTI stated that no legal action was drafted without presence of community business representatives and all other interested association representatives of specific areas.
