The Kosovo Accreditation Directory became member of the International Laboratories Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
This status gives the right to the DAK not only to participate at the International Laboratories Accreditation Cooperation – ILAC, but even to vote on different matters that has to do with accreditation procedures.
The status of associate member will open doors to the membership in ILAC with full rights and signing in to the mutual recognition agreement (MLA), which aims to support world trade by reducing trade technical barriers. Guarantee the free movement of goods without the need to re-test or/and re-calibrate laboratories of entry country. In this way based to the principle „a product tested ones, accepted everywhere” will be achieved the goal of free movement of goods with minimal costs and efforts.
From the other hand the DAK will have benefits in terms of improving organizational and technical aspect since will cooperate and exchange information with accreditation advancement system that belongs to the international accreditation network.
ILAC is an International Organization for accreditation of testing and/or calibration laboratories, and Inspection Bodies. ILAC main focus is: development and harmonization of the testing or/and calibration laboratories and inspection bodies accreditation practices, promotion of the accredited laboratories and inspection bodies, industry, central and local authorities and consumers, support for development of the Accreditation systems, and through agreements laboratories international recognition that brings ease of testing recognition at the international level.
Meantime the Kosovo Accreditation Directorate has applied to become a member of International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
Advancement of the representation level in the international; accreditation network is a continuation of several agreements that DAK has signed at the European and regional level during 2009/2010, such as Cooperation Agreement with European Accreditation Organization (EA) homolog institutions in Albania, Macedonia, Turkey and Croatia. Conclusions of those agreements comes as result of meeting of all criteria set by those organizations such as the establishment of quality system in accordance with European and International Accreditation Standards, strengthening of the institutional and professional capacities and providing an efficient accreditation service.
