World Accreditation Day
Kosovo General Accreditation Directorate marks the World Accreditation Day.
World Accreditation Day is a global initiative which aims to promote the value of accreditation. This year, the theme selected to mark World Accreditation Day is “Accreditation: Improving Food Safety”, so this day is marked together with the Food and Veterinary Agency, whose laboratories are accredited by the General Accreditation Directorate since 2014 and re-accredited in 2018.
It is worth noting that even in these times of crisis such as the Covid-19 pandemic, when supply chains in the food industry are under pressure, accreditation has helped to demonstrate the integrity and resilience of Food Testing Laboratories, giving buyers confidence in the way food is produced and distributed. Therefore, the General Accreditation Directorate, to ensure that this trust is maintained during the current situation Covid-19, has continued to carry out accreditation activities, respecting the rules of social distance and security measures for both internal staff and its customers.
Thanks to this commitment of the General Accreditation Directorate, currently in the Republic of Kosovo, 12 Testing Laboratories of food products which issue certificates on the quality of food products are accredited, thus increasing the safety and trust of consumers.
In honour of this day, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Krasniqi participated in the visit of the FVA Food Laboratories, to see the work closely, expressing great pride in the work done in these two Institutions.
The very fact of marking the World Accreditation Day in the premises of the Food and Veterinary Laboratory, a laboratory accredited by the General Accreditation Directorate of Kosovo, tells us that my political and institutional readiness to implement the Law will not be lacking, and the performance of Institutions, which through their services contribute to improving the lives of citizens, will be increasing “, stressed Minister Krasniqi.
Expressing my gratitude to all for your contribution to increasing the performance of the General Accreditation Directorate, with special emphasis on raising awareness of the role and importance of accreditation, we congratulate you on World Accreditation Day, hoping for further commitment and cooperation.
